ShiftMySite Privacy Policy

ShiftMySite runs in your browser. The products you scan or upload, and the CSV files you export, stay on your computer. We don't use analytics, ads or trackers, and we never sell data.

What the extension does

ShiftMySite is a Chrome extension that reads the public product listings of a Shopify or WooCommerce store you choose, or a product CSV file you upload, and turns them into a CSV file you can import into the other platform.

ShiftMySite is also available as a website at shiftmysite.com. The website works the same way, with the differences noted below. It has no sign-up.

Data that stays on your computer

• Scanned products and uploaded files. Product data is processed inside the extension. Exported CSV files are saved straight to your computer.
• Recent scans. Your last 5 scans or uploaded files are kept in your browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so you can reopen them. You can remove any of them from the "Recent scans" list, and they are deleted when you uninstall the extension. On the website they are kept in your browser's site storage (IndexedDB) and deleted when you clear that site's data.

Websites the extension contacts

• The store you enter. To scan a store, the extension requests that store's public product pages and feeds (for example /products.json or /wp-json/wc/store/v1/products) directly from your browser. Chrome asks your permission for each store the first time. These requests don't include your cookies or logins. The one exception is a password-protected Shopify store: if you enter its storefront password, the extension submits it to that store's own password page, and the store's access cookie is then used for that store's requests. The password is not saved or sent anywhere else, and this works only in the extension, not on the website. The store may log them the same way it logs any visitor.
• Our store proxy (website only). Browsers don't let a website read other sites directly, so on the website these requests go through our proxy on Cloudflare Workers. It fetches the public page you asked for and passes it straight back to your browser. It doesn't store the pages, the products or the store addresses. Cloudflare sees the request like any web traffic it carries (see Cloudflare's privacy policy), and the website itself is hosted on Vercel.
• Our sign-up service (only if you create an account). See below.

Website analytics

The website (not the extension) uses Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count visits and which features are used: for example, that a scan was started, a CSV was exported or the "Add to Chrome" button was clicked. Umami sets no cookies, doesn't track you across sites and doesn't store your IP address. We never send it store addresses, product data, file contents or anything you type. The extension contains no analytics.

Payments (Pro plan)

Pro is sold inside the extension through ExtensionPay, with card payments processed by Stripe. When you upgrade, you enter your email and payment details on their pages, not in ShiftMySite. We never see or store your card details. The extension asks ExtensionPay whether your account has paid, using a random ID it creates for your install, and keeps the answer in the browser so Pro keeps working offline for a few days. ExtensionPay also has a content script that runs only on extensionpay.com, to tell the extension when a payment is complete.

Account sign-up

If you sign up for access, the extension sends your first name, last name, email address and country to our sign-up service, which runs on Google Apps Script and stores them in a Google Sheet that only the ShiftMySite team can open. We use this information only to:

• create your account (sign-ups are approved automatically) and check that it hasn't been blocked (the extension checks each time you open the scraper), and
• reply to you about your account or support requests.

We don't send marketing email without your consent, and we don't sell, rent or share this information with anyone, except Google as the provider that hosts the service (see Google's privacy policy). To have your sign-up record deleted, email us at the address below.

Permissions

• Access to a store's website: asked one site at a time, only for stores you choose to scan.
• Storage: to keep your recent scans in your browser.
• script.google.com: to reach the sign-up service.
• extensionpay.com: to check whether you've paid for Pro and to confirm a payment.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to copy and use the product information, text and images of any store you scan, and for respecting that store's terms of service.

Children

ShiftMySite is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the extension's store listing.
